“The average food item on a U.S. grocery shelf has traveled farther than most families go on their annual vacations.”

Barbara Kingsolver

"The food you eat can be either the safest and most powerful form of medicine or the slowest form of poison."

Ann Wigmore

If you have a connection with the farm, if you’ve actually walked on the soil of the farm, it nourishes your soul.

Nigel Walker

When it becomes a revolutionary act to eat real food, we are in trouble.

Mark Hyman

"Cultivators of the earth are the most valuable citizens. They are the most vigorous, the most independent, the most virtuous, and they are tied to their country and wedded to it's liberty and interests by the most lasting bands."

Thomas Jefferson

What is a CSA?

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. CSA programs are designed to build a relationship between the farmer and the community. A CSA gives its members the opportunity to have direct access to high quality, fresh seasonal produce grown by a local farmer.

When you become a member of Chimney Creek CSA Veggie Box program you are purchasing a “share” of a season’s worth of food from us. We commit to raising your food with sustainable and environmentally responsible practices.  You also know that your food is grown locally, handled minimally, and not shipped from across the country or even across the world!

CSA Veggie Box members pay for an entire season of food upfront. This early bulk payment enables your farmer to plan for the season, purchase new seed, make equipment repairs, and more.  Members also share with the farmer some of the risks and benefits that come with farming.  A growing season can bring an abundance of food, but on occasion it can have less than ideal conditions (hail, insects, accidents etc.) that may affect some crops.

CSA or Community Supported Agriculture is sometimes referred to as  "Subscription Farming" because the consumer buys a subscription from a  farmer for a set price to receive fresh produce on a weekly or bi-weekly  basis. There is a direct link between local farmers and  consumers with Community Supported Agriculture. By making a financial  commitment to a farm, you become a "member" or  "subscriber" of the CSA.
