“The average food item on a U.S. grocery shelf has traveled farther than most families go on their annual vacations.”

Barbara Kingsolver

"The food you eat can be either the safest and most powerful form of medicine or the slowest form of poison."

Ann Wigmore

If you have a connection with the farm, if you’ve actually walked on the soil of the farm, it nourishes your soul.

Nigel Walker

When it becomes a revolutionary act to eat real food, we are in trouble.

Mark Hyman

"Cultivators of the earth are the most valuable citizens. They are the most vigorous, the most independent, the most virtuous, and they are tied to their country and wedded to it's liberty and interests by the most lasting bands."

COVID-19 Updates

March 22, 2020 by Farmer Deane

These are some unique and trying times that we are all going through right now. Hopefully you are all hunkered down and staying safe and healthy.

Here at Chimney Creek Farm, what we do as farmers has never felt more important. We have been asked by a few folks if we still plan to farm this year and if we will be continuing our CSA veggie box program through these uncertain times.

The answer is a strong and resounding yes! And honestly, I can't think of anything more important for us to be doing. As farmers, we owe that to ourselves and to our CSA farm members. For over 10 years you have counted on us and we have counted on you. This crisis only strengthens that bond.

So we are charging full speed ahead with the 2020 CSA veggie box season. We have developed a full action plan to deal with the situation. Most of it is behind the scenes and deals with extra cleanliness and worker health. The most apparent outward change will be for our farm pickup members who will now get their veggies via a drive-through service here on the farm. This is for your health/safety and ours.

We are holding our prices the same again this year because we realize our farm members need economic stability, now more than ever. And thank goodness we have always offered delivery right to your home. This, along with our use of paper grocery bags for your share, fits right in with the new sanitation and social distancing standards to fight the virus outbreak.

We are seeing and hearing a lot of folks talking about taking back some control over their food security. Interest in home canning and preserving, home gardening, cooking from scratch, and involving kids in the kitchen. We are gauging the interest and will be developing some free online content to share with you soon.

We deeply value the opportunity to be able to grow food for you and appreciate your continued support in these challenging times. Our CSA members continue to be our rock, giving us hope and comfort. We hope, in some small way, we can be that for you too.

No matter what happens we will survive this crisis. Please remember to be helpful, kind, and compassionate to each other.

Sending all our love your way and urging you to be safe. If you have any questions or concerns at any time, or need anything from us, please do not hesitate to reach out.
