Veggie Box FAQ

How does the Veggie Box Program work?

Our Veggie Box Program is a CSA-style subscription box. CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. This program gives the member (you) direct access to high-quality, fresh seasonal produce grown by your local farmers (us).

When you sign up for our Veggie Box Program, you’ll select how often you’d like to receive a box of fresh veggies:

  • Half Box: One box every other week

  • Full Box: One box every week

The half and full boxes get the same veggies, it’s just how often you get them.

You’ll also have the opportunity to add-on other weekly options like eggs, premium share (think seasonal fruits, honey, maple syrup, baked goods, and more), flowers, jams, and cheese to your membership.

Every member of our Veggie Box Program will also receive access to:

  • Our member exclusive online store to add extra items to their weekly veggie box.

  • Invitations to Chimney Creek Farm member events, including farm workshops, cooking classes, and our seasonal open houses including our free Pumpkin Day.

  • A weekly newsletter with information on the upcoming Veggie Box, recipe ideas, and farm news.

  • A weekly unboxing video by Farmer Tory explaining everything in that weeks veggie box., storage tips, and other fun facts.

Finally, we invite all members to join our private Facebook group—a place for members to come together, talk about their love of veggies, share cooking tips, and participate in fun events (we recently hosted an apple pie contest)!

How Do You Cook all those Vegetables?

Wondering how to cook the vegetables you received? Take a look at the recipes on our Pinterest page and create a meal your family will ask for again and again. 6 years of weekly recipes from our veggie boxes and premium add ons.

Are your vegetables organic?

We use organic growing methods. We use NO genetically modified seeds, NO chemical pesticides, NO herbicides, and NO chemical fertilizers. However, the "organic" label is a food industry term legally protected and regulated by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Compliance requires certifications, inspections, and fees that we don’t wish to pass on to our members in the form of higher Veggie Box prices.

Our produce is grown using the highest and most sustainable standards possible—higher than any certification requires! We invite you to see for yourself how our produce is grown. Contact us to schedule a farm visit or view our event calendar.

Please note: Occasionally, vegetables and fruits may be sourced from outside the farm. All are local and we strive to source the most healthy options but some may be conventionally grown.

How does home delivery work?

Our farm delivers to the Grand Rapids metropolitan area. If you live outside this area, we may be able to deliver to you (especially if you live in Kent County and north or east of Grand Rapids). When in doubt, please call us at (616) 862-2973 or send an inquiry via our contact form.

Deliveries are made Thursdays (northeast & northwest) and Fridays (southeast & southwest). Your delivery will arrive between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. on your scheduled delivery day. Your delivery time should be around the same time each week, but may fluctuate based on traffic and the driver's scheduled route for that day.

To help keep our farm costs down and be as sustainable as possible, we do not supply boxes for our home delivery. If you will not be available for your delivery, we ask that you provide a large cooler with ice or freezer packs outside your door.

How does farm pickup work?

Farm pickup is available on Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. To help keep our costs down and be as sustainable as possible, we do not supply boxes but use paper grocery bags instead. Please be on time for your farm pickup and bring a container or bags to take your veggies home with you.

Can I pay by check?

Absolutely! That option is included at checkout.

Please mail a check for the final amount to 12101 7 Mile Rd NE, Belding, MI 48809.

What if I am unavailable to receive my box?

On-farm pickup: Feel free to ask a friend or a family member to pick it up for you. Please call or email to notify us—otherwise we might think a stranger is trying to take your food! You can also request a vacation hold (at least 1 week in advance) through the online portal.

Delivery: Ask a friend or a family member to pick it up at your house and enjoy it. You may also schedule a week off or request a vacation hold (at least 1 week in advance) through the online portal.

We are the only CSA in the area to offer vacation holds and skipping a week with a make up box at a later date.

Missed your box - we will hold your box here on the farm for 24 hrs. Just let us know when you would like to pick it up.

You may also request that your box be donated to a local foodbank/family in need (our choice).

What is your cancellation policy?

Members may cancel at any time, for any reason.

What is your refund policy?

In the CSA veggie box model, members are seen as active farm partners, sharing the risks and rewards of the harvest. Should you choose to cancel your subscription, we cannot offer a refund for boxes already paid for or partially paid for. You may transfer your subscription to someone else.

All Veggie Boxes must be paid in full before the season starts. Deposits are non-refundable and there are no refunds for partially paid or canceled veggie boxes – The money that you pay for your veggie box is used to grow the crops for the term for which you are subscribing.

Can I visit the farm?

Yes! Chimney Creek Farm would love to show you where your food comes from. Please call in advance and understand that we are a working farm, so we typically won’t be available to give tours. If you’d like to meet your farmers personally, consider attending one of our farm events, where we’ve set aside time to spend especially with you!
